Historically speaking, technology has played a significant role in our evolution and the development of humanity.

Technology has shaped society into what it is today. It allows us to become stronger in many fields, such as healthcare, manufacturing industries, and communication, and it has exposed us to vast and diverse environments.

More than just thinking about the past, we have realized that technology also plays a significant role in our future and how it shapes human development even more in the years to come. Many books have been written in the hopes of understanding America’s political and socioeconomic playing field and how it is influenced by technology. In this article, I will give you a more detailed look at how technology has and will influence the development of humanity.

Healthcare advancements

When we get sick and go to the hospital, they can easily take a blood test, do scans and imaging, and perform many procedures on us. Most of the hospital is already filled with technology – the centrifuge that will help in reading blood tests,  the dialysis machines that can almost replace a kidney,  the laparoscopic machines that can help in visualization and removal of some organs,  and even things as simple as an x-ray ct scan or MRI machine are already very rampant in hospitals.

Technology almost entirely does this and has become a strong cornerstone in identifying, diagnosing, and rehabilitating diseases. Even some of the biggest hospitals in the world recognize the importance of this technology by investing billions into technological healthcare advancements to increase patient care and treatment.

Over time, doctors have already become dependent on these healthcare advancements because they have proven to be more accurate in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases than what was practiced before. This plays a big role in the concept of humanity because it is through technology that we are able to prolong lives and increase the quality of life that each person lives.

Global Connectivity and Education

When we refer to global connectivity, we should think of globalization and how it would have never been possible without our advancements in communication and transportation. Many of us think of globalization as something related to trade alone. While this is true because it allows more people access to different goods and services,  it is also vital in the overall development of humanity when we humans share our ideas and culture with each other.

This allows for the human race, in general, to become more educated and adept with each other’s beliefs and cultures and more understanding of why some cultures behave a certain way. It also affects how we tackle issues like racism or gender inequality overall because it means that we have become somewhat more united in our worldviews because of globalization.

An example of this is how, in some countries, child marriage used to be rampant.Because of the adamant spread of information to promote children’s rights and to help other people understand that forced marriage for children is a human rights violation,  people have slowly started to adapt and understand why this is detrimental to the youth.

Increased Efficiency and Productivity

Many processes have become streamed through different machines and technological innovations, leading to efficiency and productivity in work. When we talk about efficiency and productivity, we mean that we are able to create things faster in ways that prevent the waste of time and resources.

This means that it contributes to the development of humanity not only because things are more available to other people but also because the amount that can be produced in a certain period increases. This is important because it allows access to products that are many enough to reach other people. This means that the quality of work has overall increased from how it was before.

Final Takeaway

Overall, these are just some of the ways that technology has contributed to humanity’s development. However, we do not expect it to stop here. We know that technology will eventually improve, and our humanity will evolve even more, changing how our future will be shaped.
